Rise bar & club (Formally known as Escape club) was an institution on the Surfers Paradise LGBT club scene for many years, a safe, inviting and fun place for the community to relax, have a drink and a dance with amazing views overlooking Surfers Paradise beach. It provided friendly staff and fabulous entertainment provided by the very best drag queens and professional DJ’s. Unfortunately this time last year it closed it’s door for the final time with the whole outdoor area and beyond destined for development in the future.
For those wanting to relive the amazing nights at Escape/Rise or if you just want a great night out, the stunning level 2 nightclub at Melbas on the Park in Cavil Avenue is hosting “Queens of the GC – Reunion” this Friday, May the 31st. Doors will open at 9pm with 3 shows throughout the night featuring 4 Queens that were all former resident drag Queens and hosts at Escape and Rise.
The fabulous Bebe Gunn, amazing Dame Martini Fernando Ice, gorgeous Mya Crafone and the sexy Miss Justine Kase are all getting back together to entertain, amaze and have a drink or two to the good ol days. A special guest is returning also for one show, she is dusting off her sequins and strapping on her heels after a long break, the one and only Imogen Nation (aka Terry Daktyl)
Joining these fabulous drag queens is former resident DJ at Escape/Rise, the amazing DJ Beksis. A transgender DJ who knows how to fill a dance floor and keep everyone happy and dancing all night long, with over 30 years experience in nightclubs.
