Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 (GGHK) is in the midst of working together with key organisations and community leaders for a unity celebration. A global survey is now underway to collect valuable feedback and insights to help with preparations.
The GGHK team recently celebrated the official countdown to the Opening Ceremony of GGHK which will take place on November 12, 2022, at the Hong Kong Stadium.
The two years countdown to GGHK has begun with an astonishing USD 100,000 raised via crowdfunding, an amount that is continually growing. The funds raised will be used to secure venues and organise the largest LGBTQ+ sports, arts and cultural event in the world, and the first Games held in Asia.
The Gay Games in Hong Kong are expected to welcome in the region of 12,000 participants, 75,000 spectators and 3,000 volunteers. ‘Unity in Diversity’ is the theme of the 11th edition of the Games that will bring together communities in Hong Kong and from around the world – including Australia and the Oceania region.
Being held in much closer proximity to Australia than many previous editions of the Games which have been held in the United States and Europe, the Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 organisers are keen to attract more Aussies to attend and participate at the Games than ever before.
“Unity is the key message of GGHK” said Dennis Philipse, founder & co-chair of GGHK. “Carrying a torch of empowerment and connection in Hong Kong serves to bring our community together in this important time for our city. We are excited to welcome all the 12,000 participants and 75,000 spectators from 100 countries to the city”.
The Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 Survey can be found here. The feedback will be immensely helpful as the organisers establish priorities and allocate resources. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and even if you are unable to attend, your insights will still be valuable.
