liberati2013An elaborate LGBT ‘festival at sea’ scheduled to set sail from Sydney Harbour in October next year has been suddenly cancelled, with its promoters promising full refunds to those who booked.

On board the Royal Caribbean’s newly refurbished 11-deck Rhapsody of the Seas, The Liberati was to call at the Isle of Pines and Noumea in New Caledonia, before sailing back to Sydney. It was announced last August, featuring an on-board entertainment line-up including Trevor Ashley, Bob Downe, The Topp Twins and Kitty Glitter.

The cruise’s planning team at Unity Events made this announcement yesterday:

“To all our valued customers – Due to logistical issues beyond our control, Unity Events is sad to announce that we will be unable to proceed with the sailing of Liberati in 2013.

“We will do our best over the coming months to rectify these issues, with the aim of rescheduling Liberati to a later date in 2014. We have instructed all travel agents to immediately proceed with issuing you a full refund on your deposit.

“We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused and would like to thank you for the support you have shown us.

“We hope we can soon come back to you with good news on the future of Liberati so we can once again all focus on a fabulous cruise to the South Pacific.”

We’ll let you know if future plans for the Liberati to set sail are confirmed – in the meantime, Unity Events are responding to enquiries via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
